May 29, Cadiz Spain

Cadiz, Spain. We decided to just take the Hop On Hop Off bus from the ship to get an overview of the city. We rushed breakfast to get to the theatre, the meeting place at 8 am. We waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes for the bus to come. Problems getting onto the port, being late etc., Just as we were going to leave and get our money back, the bus arrived. It was a great small city and perfect for a hop on hop off tour. We sat on the top of course. And saw historic building, a beautiful city park, a beach with the tide out and local boats sitting in the mud and sand. In the other direction we saw beautiful swimming beaches with shops and restaurants just across the street.

After our one and a half hour tour, we decided to get off back at the ship and go up to lunch and then get most everything packed. Good thing as the next day was full and so busy that it would have been hard to do after we returned. We decided to go out to the garden and maybe even the beach but we checked the phone and found out no Uber in this town.. It would have been a pain to only ride the hop on hop off bus so we chilled out in the cabin and relaxed to get ready for the next many busy days.

Dinner in the dinning room and then a really great show at 8pm, Ladies of Rock. It had all the singers and dancers and was fantastic. Afterward, it was the usual good bye as all the officers and many of the crew staff came out and went on stage for a well deserved hand. They work long hard hours on the ships and most are there for 8 months straight working 7 days a week with 1 hour off a day. Higher up officers and people may work 5 or 6 months and captains are 6 months on, 6 months off. Looks like a hard life to me but many need to do so for their families.
