Going Home

Life throws you some curve balls and all you can do is hope they are small and easily fixed. Before I left for this trip I went to the doctor to check something out. Frankly I though it was just for my newer medication. She did a few tests and it wouldn’t come back for a week so we decided to go on the trip knowing that we could always come back it we needed to. 2nd night in Hawaii I read the my chart and the doctor wanted my to see a specialist and she advised that I come home. So of course we decided not to preceded with the trip and were thankful we hadn’t made it all the way to Australia as that is a long flight. We canceled all further activities, hotels, the cruise back, the land tour in New Zealand land tour and sadly the 2 nights on a dive boat in the Great Barrier Reef. It was sad to think of all we would miss but David was very supportive that we needed to go home to see what needs to be done for my health and not wait for 6 to 7 weeks. Hopefully all this is just being dramatic but we do not want to take any chances as all of these places and activities will still be there when we want to try again. We hope the travel insurance will agree we needed to come home but if not, we still feel we should be home to take care of things.

Of course this has to happen the first time we decide to write a Blog and then tell so many people about it. HaHa The Hawaii part was also not the best. We landed to a flood alert. The first day the sun came out between rain showers. We took several nice walks and swam in the ocean. We stayed in a great area in Waikiki Beach but at the end of that day we got the news so the next day was spent canceling everything and when we might have gone swimming it was dark and about the rain. The morning we flew home it was raining and so windy we ate in our hotel so we didn’t have to walk outside. Our plane loaded 30 minutes late and then we sat on the plane for about 2 hours waiting to be cleared to take off. Our plane landed in Seattle to 2 inches of snow and a power outage at home that lasted until 10:30am the next day. Sounds terrible but we were lucky to get home safely and all and all just lucky with all the minor inconveniences.

The few people we have told have been very supportive and asked what can they do. Frankly, nothing. The first real information will come from my appointment on Tuesday but I expect it will take much longer than that to get all the info. So here we are with a totally free calendar except for making time for any doctor appointments….. Let me know if you are available for any fun times, get togethers or visits. We’d love to get together.

Thanks for reading our 1st travel Blog and we hope the next one will work out better. Jackie & David
